The Trail Care Crew got into town and we immediately set up meetings with the Park Managers at Green Lakes State Park and Highland Forest. We proceeded to Highland on Friday to meet with Dave Miele, the Manager at Highland and after a brief , but productive meeting, we rode the proposed race course. We scouted out our work area for Saturday and then received the thumbs up for this year's course. After finishing up there, we went over to meet with John Livingston, the manager at Green Lakes. John wanted us to give suggestions on dealing with the "V"s, i.e. how to make them safe. The Crew came up with a number of ways to improve the trails. On Saturday, we worked on a section of the race course at Highland that is perpetually muddy. Make that used to be. We got busy and cleaned up some nasty mud holes. So when you are climbing up Road 7, be sure to think of the Trail Care Crew and CNY DIRT maintenance crews. And next time, maybe it will be you with the shovel and Mcleod in hand.
